WALTHAM, Mass. – Facing a team that was receiving votes in this week's national poll, the University of Bridgeport's men's soccer team tallied a dramatic 1-1 draw at Bentley University on Wednesday. The non-conference tie puts the Purple Knights' overall record at 3-3-2 while they stay at 3-0 in the CACC this season.
Freshman Kristians Prieditis served as the hero for UB with just seven seconds left in regulation. The Latvia native headed in his team-best fourth goal of the year to send the road squad home with a point.
Graduate student Enzo Beatrix found Prieditis for his team-leading third assist. He has now recorded at least one point in four straight contests.
Prieditis continues a clutch season for Bridgeport as he also scored in the 89th minute of the Purple Knights' 2-2 draw at SCSU (Sept. 7) and the game-winner at 16th-ranked Wilmington (Sept. 27).
The Purple Knights originally had a chance to take the lead in the 73rd minute but Kaanturk Akgul's penalty kick was saved by the Bentley goalkeeper.
Four minutes later, the Falcons took a 1-0 lead off a free kick just outside of the box.
