Men's Swimming and Diving Finishes Second at Fairfield Invitational
Purple Knights placed ahead of SCSU and Manhattan in their season-opening meet.
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Seeing official action for the first time since 2019, the University of Bridgeport's men's swimming and diving team posted a second-place performance at the Fairfield Invitational this past weekend. UB piled up 481 points, finishing ahead of both Southern Connecticut State and Manhattan.

TOP PERFORMANCES
The Purple Knights opened Saturday with a strong third-place finish in the 200-medley relay, as Christian Toussi, Maximiliano Pedrozo Sevila, Camilo Villalba Vera, and William Crecca combined for a time of 1:45.42.
Individually, Sultanbek Azat and Toussi each picked up a pair of victories to lead Bridgeport. Azat captured both the 800-free (8:30.69) and 400-free (4:07.52) while Toussi touched first in the 100-back (55.96) and 100-fly (57.15). Pedrozo Sevila, meanwhile, added a runner-up finish in the 100-breast (1:05.70).
Villalba Vera showed his speed as well with second-place efforts of his own in both the 50-free (24.05) and 100-free (53.43).
The Purple Knights maneuvered a trio of third-place times as Ryan Wall notched a bronze in the 800-free (8:42.74), Pacome Sidelski in the 200-free (1:57.65) and Giancarlo Zamora in the 200-fly (2:10.42).
The meet concluded with another strong relay, as Villalba Vera, Azat, Sidelski, and Toussi teamed up to take second in the 400-free relay (3:31.66).
Diving started the festivities on Friday night as Vincent Militrano made his UB debut in the one-meter. He finished with 110.0 total points.
