Men's Swimming and Diving Dominates Pace to Improve to 7-0 in Dual Meets
Purple Knights win all but one event, now 4-0 versus NE10 programs this season.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Competing for the final time prior to semester break, the Unviersity of Bridgeport's men's swimming and diving team earned a 201-58 dual-meet win over Pace University on Saturday inside the Baum Family Aquatic Center. The victory pushes UB's record to a perfect 7-0 in dual meets this season, including 4-0 versus NE10 programs.
The Purple Knights opened their Saturday dominance with a strong showing on the diving board, as Juan David Urrea Vargas claimed first place in the one-meter dive with a score of 210.32. That early momentum carried over to the pool, where the Purple Knights went on to win all but one event and capture both relay races.
UB's swimming efforts started in the 200-medley relay, as Christian Toussi, Jurica Dragun, Maximiliano Pedrozo Sevila and Camilo Villalba Vera touched first in 1:45.08.
Sultanbek Azat then picked up the first individual swimming win of the meet by taking the 400-free in 4:01.71. Toussi added a win in the 50-back (26.70), while Dragun earned top honors in the 50-breast with a time of 28.67.
Giancarlo Zamora continued the run with a victory in the 100-fly (1:00.11), and Villalba Vera captured the 50-free in 24.17.
The Purple Knights remained in control as the meet progressed, with Toussi winning the 100-free in 52.39 and Pedrozo Sevila taking the 100-breast in 1:06.47.
Azat secured his second win of the day in the 200-free (1:54.20), while Pedrozo Sevila later added another first-place finish in the 50-fly with a time of 26.12.
Ignacy Olownia closed out the individual events with a victory in the 100-IM, touching the wall in 1:00.58.
Bridgeport wrapped up the meet with a pair of strong relay performances in the 200-free relay.
Villalba Vera, Brandon George, AJ Schnitzeler and Dragun won the event in 1:36.61, while a second Purple Knight quartet of Toussi, Azat, Pacome Sidelski and Aaron Williamson placed second in 1:36.78, putting an exclamation point on a great afternoon inside the Baum Family Aquatic Center.

The Purple Knights will be off until 2026 when they take on Wheaton College and Wesleyan University in a tri-meet on Jan. 17.
