Swimming Trio of Genç, Dragun and Azat Earn NE10 Weekly Awards
Jurica Dragun & Ceyda Genç each named NE10 Swimmer of the Week, Sultanbek Azat tabbed Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – In recognition of excellent efforts on Saturday at the Baum Family Aquatic Center, a trio of freshman swimmers from the University of Bridgeport took home Northeast-10 Conference weekly awards on Tuesday. Jurica Dragun and Ceyda Genç were each named as the NE10's Swimmer of the Week while Sultanbek Azat snagged Rookie of the Week honors.
Dragun delivered another standout performance on Saturday, helping UB earn a decisive win over Pace and improve to 7-0 in dual meets this season. The Croatia native captured first place in the 50-breast with a time of 28.67, which ranks as the third-fastest in the NE10 this year. He already owns the conference's top time in that event after swimming a 25.48 at last week's ECAC Championships.
In relay action, Dragun was part of the winning 200-medley relay that touched the wall in 1:45.08. He capped the meet by anchoring the first-place 200-free relay in 1:36.61.
Azat nabs his fourth NE10 weekly award of the season after also helping the Purple Knights to their seventh dual win of the year on Saturday. He won the 400-free in 4:01.71, a time that ranks fourth-fastest in the NE10 this year, while also owning the conference's top mark from last weekend's ECAC Championships in the 500-free (4:25.78).
Azat also captured the 200-free in 1:54.20, the 11th-fastest time in the league this season. He already holds the NE10's fastest time in that event as well after clocking a 1:38.82 at ECACs.
Genç turned in a strong all-around performance of her own on Saturday, contributing to multiple victories for UB against Pace. She helped the Purple Knights open the meet with a first-place finish in the 200-medley relay, touching the wall in 2:05.90. Individually, Genç captured the 100-fly in 1:06.73, a time that ranks sixth in the NE10 this season, while she already owns the conference's top mark after swimming a 57.89 at last weekend's ECAC Championships.
Genç added another win in the 100-free with a time of 1:01.86. She also finished first in the 50-fly, posting a 30.08 that stands as the third-fastest mark in the league this year. She currently holds the NE10's fastest time in that event as well, clocking a 26.45 at ECACs.
