Men's Swimming and Diving Falls to Fairfield in Home Dual Meet
Purple Knights fall for first time, entered the day 9-0 in dual meets this season.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – In the first of two home meets in less than 24 hours, the University of Bridgeport's men's swimming and diving team dropped a dual-meet matchup (177-119) to Fairfield University on Friday. UB's defeat to the DI Stags is the Purple Knights' first loss of the season (9-1).
The Purple Knights opened the day with a thrilling second-place finish in the 200-medley relay, as Christian Toussi, Jurica Dragun, Maximiliano Pedrozo Sevila and Camilo Villalba Vera touched in 1:43.85, just three-tenths of a second shy of first.
Sultanbek Azat anchored Bridgeport's individual efforts with a sensational three-win afternoon, winning the 800-free in 8:34.47 before also claiming gold in the 200-free (1:52.88) and 400-free (4:02.83).
Toussi showcased his versatility with victories in both the 50-back (26.06) and 100-back (57.59), while also adding a runner-up finish in the 100-fly (58.48).
Dragun joined the win column by taking the 50-breast in 28.32 and finishing second in the 100-breast with a time of 1:03.79.
Bridgeport continued to pile up top finishes as Ryan Wall placed second in the 800-free (8:37.34) and Ignacy Olownia narrowly missed a victory in the 400-IM, clocking a 4:36.33 to finish just 0.29 seconds behind first.

The Purple Knights will host their final home meet of the season tomorrow morning (10:30 a.m.) against the College of Staten Island.
