Dragun, Toussi Shine at NCAA Championships, Earn All-America Honors as Freshmen
Dragun places sixth in 100-breast, 11th in 200-breast; Toussi Claims 10th in 100-back
EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Freshmen Jurica Dragun and Christian Toussi represented the University of Bridgeport on the national stage this weekend, and the duo made a strong impression in their first appearance at the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships at the Deaconess Aquatic Center in Evansville, Indiana. Competing against the nation's best, both swimmers registered standout performances and came away with All-America honors for the Purple Knights.
Rather than simply celebrating their qualification to NCAAs, Dragun and Toussi capitalized on the opportunity with a pair of sensational swims during Friday night's finals session. Dragun produced the top finish of the weekend, placing sixth in the 100-breast with a time of 53.14 to earn first-team All-America recognition.
Toussi also turned in a strong showing, finishing 10th in the 100-back in 47.57. His performance secured second-team All-America honors.
Dragun added to his success on Saturday night, finishing 11th in the 200-breast with a time of 1:58.31. The effort not only earned him his second All-America accolade of the weekend, but it also tied UB's school record in the event.
