Track and Field Competes at SCSU's Jack Maloney/Jim Barber Invitational
Purple Knights' final tune-up prior to the CACC Championships next weekend.
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – In their final tune-up prior to the 2025 CACC Championships, the University of Bridgeport's men's and women's track and field teams competed at SCSU's Jack Maloney/Jim Barber Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
Dante Lingley led the way for the Purple Knights with a pair of season bests and top-five finishes. The graduate student posted a fifth-place performance in the 100-meter (10.92) before placing second in the 200-meter (22.18).
Freshman Nickolas Barba also raced in the 200-meter, registering a season best time of 23.09. He was just 100th of a second off a new PR.
Another highlight for UB came in the form of a first-place score by sophomore John Panzera. The Haddam, Conn. native tallied a top mark of 3.33m in the pole vault.
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
Freshman Abety Kivagheni opened things up with a terrific outing in the long jump on Friday. The rookie posted a PR of 4.92m which is currently ranked seventh in the CACC.
Kivagheni has improved roughly one full meter in the long jump this season.
Anna-Mae Nellis followed with a school record (outdoors) time in the 400-meter (1:06.19) on Saturday. She also secured a season-best mark (28.24) in the 200-meter.
In relay action, the Purple Knights improved their season-best time and school record in the 4x100. Kivagheni, Nellis, Faith Hershberger and Kara Sampath rattled off a mark of 53.02.

The Purple Knights will compete in the 2025 CACC Championship Meet next weekend (May 2-3) at Georgian Court.
