Track and Field Squads Conclude 2025 Season at CACC Championships
Both teams tally 25 points; Women finish in 8th, Men in 9th.
LAKEWOOD, N.J. – Competing in their third-ever CACC Championship meet, the University of Bridgeport's women's and men's track and field teams posted respective finishes of eighth and ninth at the two-day event (May 2-3) held at Georgian Court University.
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS (8th Place, 25 pts)
Friday's action saw the most success for the Purple Knights on the women's side.
Faith Hershberger provided the largest highlight with an individual victory in the pole vault. The graduate student capped off her UB career with a top mark of 2.20m.
Another graduate student Anna-Mae Nellis also nabbed points on the first day of competition. The Poughkeepsie, N.Y. native placed seventh in the hammer throw with a mark of 36.01 while also finishing fourth in the javelin (35.55m).
Nellis followed up with another standout mark on Saturday. She launched a fourth-place score in the shot put with a tally of 11.67m
Also on Saturday, it was Stephanie Lickteig providing the best individual result with a 10th-place finish in the 5,000-meter (22:26.27).
UB had a pair of relays earn points as well on Saturday. Hershberger, Nellis, Kara Sampath and Abety Kivagheni put together a seventh-place effort in the 4x100 in a time of 53.07.
Nellis, Kivagheni, Sampath were then joined by Lynzie Lawton to place eighth in the 4x400 in a mark of 4:36.38.
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS (9th place, 25 pts)
Friday also supplied the most points on the men's side for UB.
John Panzera was all over the leaderboard with a trio of top-eight finishes. The sophomore finished fourth in the javelin (42.25m), fifth in the pole vault (3.35m) and eighth in the high jump (1.85m).
Panzera then managed a seventh-place mark on Saturday in the 110-hurdles (16.06).
Nick Migliarese also served as a point-scorer on the first day of action. The Florida native registered a seventh-place throw in the javelin (40.26m) and an eighth-place toss in the hammer (39.55m).
Dante Lingley joined in on Saturday with a superb sprint in the 100-meter. The Maine native darted to a PR in the 100-meter (10.78) en route to a third-place finish. He improved the school record that he already possesses.
Lingley also tallied a 10th-place mark in the in the 200-meter (23.91).
Lingley competed in relay action on Saturday as well. He joined Damian Coles, Marvin Fenwick, Jr. and Nickolas Barba to place fifth in the 4x100 (43.23).
Fenwick also earned a pair of top-10 marks on the individual side of things. He began with a 10th-place performance in the long jump (6.17m) on Friday followed by a ninth-place score in the triple jump (12.57m) on Saturday.
