Track and Field Squads Travel to Compete at Shippensburg's Mid-Week Bonanza
Purple Knights post five PRs, five top-15 finishes.
SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – In the first of two meets across a three-day span, the University of Bridgeport's men's and women's track and field teams competed at Shippensburg University's Mid-Week Bonanza on Thursday.
Women's Highlights
Abety Kivagheni and Monsio Davies both delivered standout performances in the long jump, each recording personal-best marks.
Davies led the way with a leap of 5.07m to finish 10th, breaking her own program record in the process, while Kivagheni posted a mark of 4.99m to place 15th. Already qualified for the CACC Championship meet, Davies was joined by Kivagheni, who secured her spot with Thursday's performance.
In distance action, Stephanie Lickteig also turned in a strong showing, earning a runner-up finish in the 5000m with a time of 21:52.08.
Men's Highlights
Lucas Reinhardt and Jeremy Choi each recorded PRs in the discus, with Reinhardt placing 20th at 36.62 meters and Choi finishing 27th with a toss of 34.15 meters.
Choi and Reinhardt also finished 18th and 19th respectively in the hammer throw with scores of 39.08m and 37.21m.
Darreyle Simpson also posted a personal-best effort in the 110-meter hurdles, clocking in at 18.54 to take 13th, while adding a ninth-place finish in the high jump at 1.80 meters.
Toby Middleton delivered Bridgeport's top placement of the day, taking fourth in the 5000m with a time of 16:19.00.
Additional performances included Damian Coles finishing 20th in the 400m (53.59) and Sunil Peters taking 25th in the 200m with a time of 23.07.
