Old Westbury, N.Y.-It was a tough day at the plate on a chilly Thursday afternoon on Long Island for the University of Bridgeport softball team, as the Purple Knights were limited to a total of three hits on the day and were held scoreless, losing both ends of an East Coast Conference doubleheader at NYIT. The host Bears won game one, 8-0, in five innings and completed the sweep with a 7-0 victory in the nightcap. Bridgeport had one hit in the opener and two base hits in game two.
UB is now 7-19 overall and 3-9 in the ECC. NYIT raises its overall record to 15-14, and the Bears are now 7-6 in conference play.
The same two teams will meet in Bridgeport to close out their season series at 12 noon on Saturday.
