Brookville, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport softball team split a road East Coast Conference doubleheader at LIU Post on Saturday afternoon winning game one, 9-7, and falling in a 1-0 pitchers' duel in game two. With the split, the Purple Knights are now 18-18 overall and 5-9 in the ECC. LIUP is now 21-13 overall and 10-2 in conference action.
In the opener, UB raced out to a 9-0 lead heading into the bottom of the fourth inning and held on for the victory. Sophomore Allison Luzzi (East Haven, Conn.) continued to stay red-hot at the plate going 2-for-5 with two runs batted in game one, as he smashed her team-leading eighth home run of the season.
Juniors Kamryn Beach (Tampa. Fla.) and Stephanie Dean (Old Lyme, Conn.) also each contributed two runs batted for the winner in the opener.

In the pitching circle, senior Amanda Staheli (Pecatonica, Ill.) worked a complete game to earn her ninth win of 2018. In game two, sophomore Ashley Eisnor (Medford, Mass.) was the hard-luck loser, as she fired a complete game in which she allowed only three hits with three strike outs and two walks. UB was limited to only four hits as a team in the nightcap. Up next, the Bridgeport softball team is schedule to host Dominican (N.Y.) College in a home, non-conference doubleheader on Sunday. Action is scheduled to being in Seaside Park at 1:00 p.m.
