Kaira Ramon And Kaite Burawski Earn Weekly ECC Softball Awards
Duo Has Helped The Purple Knights To A Fast Start To The 2022 Campaign
West Babylon, N.Y.-Two members of the University of Bridgeport softball team have been selected for weekly East Coast Conference Awards this week for their outstanding play in games that took place from February 21 through 27, 2022, as Kaira Ramon (Sr., Stamford, Conn.) was selected as the ECC Player of the Week and Kaite Burawski (Jr., Hartley, Del.) earned ECC Pitcher of the Week honors.
Ramon got her 2022 season off to a fast start batting .462, slugging .846, and posting a .462 on-base percentage in four games played in Florida to open the year. Kaira finished the season's opening weekend scoring four runs and blasting one home run and driving in six runs. She also stole a pair of bases for the Purple Knights.
Burawski picked up right where she left off last season in the pitching circle, as she posted a 2-1 record with a 1.46 ERA over the season's opening weekend. She average a whopping 2.0 strikeouts per inning to start the year fanning 48 batters in only 24 innings pitched, plus she only issued eight walks to go along with those 48 K's. Her only loss on the week came in a game in which the Purple Knights were no-hit by nationally-ranked Georgian Court. She also notched one save on the week.
