Three Purple Knights Receive Weekly ECC Softball Honors
Taylor Yates, Kaite Burawski And Madison D'Amato Receive Weekly East Coast Conference Accolades
West Babylon, N.Y.-Three members of the University of Bridgeport softball team have earned East Coast Conference awards for their top-notch play in games that took from April 4 through 10, 2022. Junior Taylor Yates (Elk Grove, Calf.) was selected as the Co-ECC Player of the Week (her second recognition of the season), classmate Kaite Burawski (Hartley, Del.) picked up her fourth ECC Pitcher of the Week nod, and for the second time in 2022, freshman Madison D'Amato (Warwick, R.I.) has been named Conference Rookie of the Week.
It was truly dangerous to pitch to Yates last week, as she posted a .500 batting average (11-for-22) with three home runs and 15 runs batted in in six games played, all UB wins. She slugged a whopping 1.091 in the six contests as she added four doubles to her weekly extra base total. On the week, Yates also scored six runs for the Purple Knights. So far in 2002, Taylor is batting .374 and leads the team with seven homers and 35 RBI.
What a week it was for Burawski, as she pitched back-to-back no-hitters against Queens and the College of Staten Island on Tuesday and Friday, plus she went 4-0 in her four appearances on the week with a 1.97 ERA. The two no-hitters this week, give her three so far in 2022. On the week, she worked 21.1 allowing only seven hits with 40 strikeouts. So far his season, Burawski is 14-5 with a 1.75 ERA and 17 complete games. In 124.1 innings pitched, she has allowed only 76 hits, while fanning 218 batters and issuing only 39 walks.
D'Amato helped propel the University of Bridgeport to six wins last week batting .579 (11-for-19) with nine runs scored, one home run and seven runs batted. On the week, she slugged .789 and had an on-base percentage of .667 to go along with the .579 batting average. She also stole a pair of bases on the week. So far in 2022, Madison leads the Purple Knights with a .430 batting average.
