Bridgeport's Kaite Burawski Named The NFCA’s Division II Wilson National Pitcher Of The Week
Junior Twirled Back-To Back No-Hitters Last Week Going 4-0
LOUISVILLE, Ky.–Augustana's Mary Pardo and Bridgeport's Kaite Burawski (Jr./Hartley, Del.) were named NFCA's Division II Louisville Slugger Player and Wilson Pitcher of the Week. The duo is being recognized for outstanding performances during contests played April 4-10 .
Pardo powered the Vikings to a 6-0 week as she clubbed seven home runs, recorded 15 RBI and slugged 1.579. Over the six games, she batted .474 with nine hits, 12 runs scored, two stolen bases and a .500 on-base percentage. Pardo matched a program record with three long balls against Winona State. In the doubleheader sweep of the Warriors, the senior centerfielder drove in eight, scored five runs and left the yard four times. Pardo connected on two more home runs and posted five RBI and three runs scored in game one versus Minot State.
Burawski, who was 4-0 on the week, twirled back-to-back no-hitters against Queens and College of Staten Island. She finished the week allowing just seven hits, striking out 40 and posting a 1.97 ERA in 21.1 innings of work. In her first no-no, Burawski fanned 15 and issued one walk and followed with 12 more punchouts (2 BB) in a six-inning outing. The junior hurler currently ranks third in Division II with 217 strikeouts.
The Division II Player and Pitcher of the Week awards are voted on by the NFCA Division II Top 25 Poll Committee, which consists of two head coaches from each of the NCAA's eight regions. To be eligible, student-athletes must be nominated by their member head coach.
