Softball Sweeps Chestnut Hill to Move to 9-1 in the CACC

Team Stats
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Continuing a red-hot stretch in conference play, the University of Bridgeport's softball team registered a doubleheader sweep at Chestnut Hill College on Saturday. The Purple Knights (19-9, 9-1 CACC) have now won eight straight CACC games by a run margin of 65-5.
GAME ONE – Bridgeport 7, Chestnut Hill 1
UB utilized a five-run third inning and 13 total hits to set the tone in the opener.
Madison D'Amato went 3-for-4 to lead the offense with a run scored and an RBI. D'Amato doubled in UB's sixth run of the game in the third inning.
Mya Jones and Angela Oros were also stellar in game one. They both went 2-for-4 with a walk while combining for three runs scored and an RBI.
Breanna Pelaez registered multiple hits in the first contest as well with a pair of singles. She also initiated one of UB's five walks.
Kaite Burawski was once again outstanding for Bridgeport in the circle. The left-hander allowed just one unearned run en route to her 70th career pitching win.
Burawski totaled nine strikeouts against the Griffins as she continues to lead the CACC in punchouts this season (113). She also lowered her ERA to 1.84 in 87.2 innings pitched.
GAME TWO – Bridgeport 6, Chestnut Hill 0
The Purple Knights stayed sharp in the finale courtesy of 12 more hits and an absolute gem from right-hander Vise Zarate. UB has tallied double-digit hit totals in six of their last seven games.
Zarate, meanwhile, tossed a one-hit shutout in which she allowed just three Griffins to reach base. She walked just one batter in her 11th complete game of the year.
Offensively, UB's top four batters in the lineup combined to go 9-for-15 with six runs scored. Pelaez went a perfect 4-for-4 to finish the day with six hits and three runs scored.
D'Amato added two more singles as well to extend her remarkable hitting streak to 24 straight games. She continues to lead the CACC in batting average (.483), on-base percentage (.573) and runs scored (37) this season.
Oros launched Bridgeport's lone extra-base hit in the finale with a double in the fifth to go along with an RBI bunt single in the third.
Paityn Thibodeaux and Alex Hughes also logged RBI singles in UB's second win of the day.
