Three From Softball Named to D2CCA All-Region Teams

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Adding to a postseason filled with awards, a trio of University of Bridgeport softball players were named to D2CCA All-Region Teams on Monday. Kaite Burawski and Mya Jones were each selected to the All-East First Team while Madison D'Amato was named to the Second Team.

Honoree: Kaite Burawski | Graduate Student LHP | Hartly, Del.
Notable Stats: An 18-7 record (25 appearances/24 starts) with a 1.89 ERA, 188 strikeouts across 159.0 innings pitched… 22 complete games, six shutouts, reached double-figure strikeouts on seven occasions… During regular season, ranked No. 1 in CACC in wins, strikeouts, innings pitched and batting average against... Finished regular season second in the CACC in ERA (1.73)… Eclipsed 1,000 career strikeouts in NCAA Regional against Goldey-Beacom.

Notable Performances: Tossed a five-inning no-hitter (12 Ks) vs. Walsh (3/2)… Registered a season-high 14 strikeouts in a 3-2 win vs. Gannon (3/8)… Tallied a six-inning, one-hit shutout vs SCSU (3/13)… Recorded a four-hit shutout of Caldwell (4/13), and one-hit shutout of Jefferson (4/22)… Allowed just two runs in seven innings during UB's CACC Tournament win over Dominican.

Honoree: Mya Jones | Junior 3B | Milford, Del.
Notable Stats: .418 batting average (4^th, CACC), 50 RBIs (2^nd in the east region), .479 on-base percentage (3^rd, CACC)… 20 walks, only struck out seven times…10 doubles, 33 runs scored… Tallied at least one hit in 34 games with 21 multi-hit contests.

Notable Performances: Went 2-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIs in a 6-2 win at Rollins (3/5)… Went 5-for-6 with four RBIs and a walk in a sweep of Georgian Court (3/22)… Went 4-for-5 with four RBIs and a walk in a sweep of Post (3/25)… Went 4-for-7 with three RBIs in a sweep of Felician (4/2)… Went 4-for-7 with three RBIs and a walk in a sweep of Dominican (4/16).

Honoree: Madison D'Amato | Senior SS | Warwick, R.I.
Notable Stats: Leads east region in total hits (74) and doubles (20)… Ranks second in the region in batting average (.451), runs scored (55) and on-base percentage (.521)… Ranked second in the CACC in walks (22)… Tallied at least one hit in 44 different games… Played  202 career games at UB with totals of 244 hits and 194 runs scored.

Notable Performances: Recorded a 32-game hitting streak from March 2 – April 17 (6^th longest in DII history)… Tallied 24 multi-hit games… Went 5-for-8 with a double and two runs scored in a sweep of Chestnut Hill (3/29)… Went 3-for-5 with three doubles and five RBIs in a sweep of Post (3/25)… Went 4-for-8 with a double and home run in a sweep of Caldwell (4/13).

UB's three All-Region selections are tied for the most in the East Region this season.
