Softball's Perreault and D'Amato Grab CACC Weekly Awards
Sydnee Perreault - CACC Player of the Week | Genna D'Amato - CACC Rookie of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – After helping the Purple Knights to four wins last week, junior Sydnee Perreault and freshman Genna D'Amato of the University of Bridgeport's softball team were both honored with Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) weekly awards on Monday. Perreault was tabbed as the CACC's Player of the Week while D'Amato earned Rookie of the Week honors.
Perreault put together a dominant week at the plate to power the Purple Knights to a 4-2 record. The Rhode Island native hit .571 while scoring eight runs and driving in seven more. Half of her 12 hits went for extra bases, as she racked up three doubles, two triples, and her fifth career home run. Perreault finished the week with a sensational 1.048 slugging percentage and a .609 on-base percentage.
D'Amato also played a massive role in the Purple Knights' 4-2 stretch last week. She batted a terrific .500 (9-for-18) while driving in six runs and scoring twice. D'Amato recorded at least one hit in all six games and added three multi-hit performances. She did much of her damage in conference play, totaling five RBIs in UB's sweep of Goldey-Beacom on Saturday.
