UB Women's Basketball Shines At Milford Relay For Life
Purple Knights Dish Out A Big Assist At Fundraiser To Battle Cancer
Milford, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team took part in the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life celebration on Sunday September 11, 2011 at Foran High School in Milford Connecticut
Relay For Life is a fundraising event that takes place all over the globe for those who have been touched by the effects of cancer and for those that are still battling cancer. Those in attendance camp at their local site and begin the event by walking for 24 hours celebrating the victories they have achieved and remembering those who have lost their lives to this disease. There are candles lit for those who have passed away and there is also a fight back ceremony, which is a personal commitment to save lives by taking part in the fight against cancer.
The UB women's basketball team volunteered this year to help clean up and break down following the completion of the event and most of all to encourage those who participated.
