Bridgeport, Conn.- The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team closed out its 2017-2018 home schedule with a 54-40 win against East Coast Conference opponent Molloy College on Wednesday night in Hubbell Gym. The win ups the Purple Knights' overall record to 9-18 and their ECC mark to 6-11. Molloy drops to 8-19 overall and 3-14 in conference play. There were just three lead changes in the contest before the Purple Knights pulled away and never looked back. UB entered the locker room at the half time with an 18-point, 25-7, lead. The 40 points allowed by UB on Wednesday is a season low by an opponent.
Junior Samnell Vonleh (Swampscott, Mass.) recorded a double-double in the victory, scoring 11 points and grabbing a game-high 12 rebounds. Vonleh also contributed two blocks and three assists.
In her last home game in the Purple and White, senior Morgen Caution (Baltimore, Md.) recorded 10 points and nine rebounds. Caution also had three blocks for the winners.
Teammate and fellow senior Sofia Ermeidou (Athens, Greece) had six points and one assist. The senior also contributed one steal and one rebound in her final home contest.
The UB women will close out the season this Saturday, February 24 visiting Queens (N.Y.) College in an ECC matchup. Game time is set for 1:30 pm.
