Women's Basketball Falls in Home Opener to Queens
Zahkiyyah Frazier leads UB with 11 points and a career-high 18 rebounds.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Playing their first home game of the 2025-26 season, the University of Bridgeport's women's basketball team suffered a 57-44 defeat to Queens College on Saturday. The non-conference loss puts the Purple Knights' record at 1-1 so far this year.
Sophomore Zahkiyyah Frazier served as a massive highlight for UB. The Philadelphia native turned in a standout performance in the paint, finishing with 11 points and a career-high 18 rebounds, including eight on the offensive glass.
Frazier is now 10-for-13 (76.9%) from the field with averages of 11.0 points and 14.0 boards across her first two games this season.
Fellow sophomore Savannah Prescott also finished in double figures for the second straight contest as she added 12 points (team high), five rebounds, and three steals (team high). She now has seven takeaways in UB's first two games.
Another sophomore that came off the bench was Mireya Johnson who contributed six points, two steals and an assist. UB's reserves outscored Queens, 35-15.
Offensively, Purple Knights finished 17-of-58 (29.3%) from the field including a 4-for-24 effort from three-point range.
After trailing 15–9 after one quarter, the Purple Knights used a stronger second quarter to pull within 20–20 at halftime, but Queens regained control with a 22-point third period that proved to be the difference.

The Purple Knights will start CACC play on Tuesday (Nov. 25) with a home matchup against Wilmington (5 p.m.).
