Four in Double Figures Lead Women's Basketball to Road Win at Pace
Purple Knights improve their record to 5-3 this season.
PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Propelled by four players in double figures and a massive rebounding margin, the University of Bridgeport's women's basketball team posted a 62-53 road win at Pace University on Tuesday night. The non-conference victory pushes the Purple Knights' record to 5-3 overall this season (3-1, CACC).
UB's dominance on the boards, highlighted by a 38–23 rebounding edge, along with four standout individual performances, helped the Purple Knights to their first victory over an NE10 opponent since November 2022.
Karolina Andersson, Nicole Benini, Jaelyn Choi and Savannah Prescott combined to score 58 of Bridgeport's 62 points in the win.
Andersson and Benini led the UB attack with numerous season-best totals. The duo both poured in a season-high 16 points on a combined 10-for-17 shooting (58.8%) from the field.
Benini, who also tallied three steals off the bench, did most of her damage at the free-throw line courtesy of a 9-for-11 output.
Choi provided a spark off the bench as well with 15 points, connecting on half of UB's eight three-pointers.
Prescott, meanwhile, delivered her first career double-double with 11 points and a season-high 10 rebounds. She has now scored in double figures in six of Bridgeport's eight games this season.
Prescott also added three steals for the second consecutive game. She continues to lead UB in takeaways this season at 2.6 per contest.
In addition to the sensational rebounding numbers, Bridgeport also posted its highest free-throw percentage of the season. UB finished 10-for-13 (76.9%) at the charity stripe.
