Women's Basketball Shoots Past Jefferson, 67-60
Purple Knights tie season high with 12 made threes on a season-best shooting percentage.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Propelled by a dominant second quarter and season-best three-point shooting, the University of Bridgeport's women's basketball team posted a 67-60 win over Jefferson on Saturday inside Hubbell Gym. The conference victory improves the Purple Knights' record to 9-8 this season, including a 7-6 mark in the C-CC.
After a tight opening period, the Purple Knights erupted for a 23-6 second quarter, closing the half on a decisive 13-0 run to take control of the game.
UB maintained a double-digit advantage for most of the second half while turning in one of its most efficient shooting performances of the season from beyond the arc. The Purple Knights tied a season high with 12 three-pointers and posted a season-best 42.9 percent effort from long range.
Bridgeport also controlled the glass with a 46-36 rebounding edge and received a major lift from its depth, outscoring Jefferson 27-6 in bench points.
Nicole Benini led all UB scorers with a season-high 17 points, knocking down a season-best five three-pointers while adding seven rebounds, a steal and a block.
Savannah Prescott reached double figures for the 11th time this season with 13 points and four assists, while Isabella Edwards also chipped in 13 points off the bench.
Jaelyn Choi finished with 11 points and a team-high six assists, and Zahkiyyah Frazier anchored the paint with 11 rebounds to record her eighth double-figure rebounding performance of the year.
Frazier continues to rank third in the CACC in rebounds per game (9.6) this season.
