Women's Basketball Falls to Chestnut Hill on Senior Day
Purple Knights remain in final playoff position in CACC standings.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Playing their final home game of 2025-26, the University of Bridgeport's women's basketball team showed plenty of fight on Senior Day but ultimately came up short in a 71-62 setback to Chestnut Hill College inside Hubbell Gym. UB remains in eighth place in the CACC standings with a conference mark of 7-11.
Trailing by 12 at halftime, the Purple Knights stormed back in the third quarter, trimming the deficit to just three points with under 30 seconds remaining in the period. UB continued to chip away in the fourth, cutting the margin to five with 3:04 left to play, but could not get over the hump down the stretch.
Fittingly, senior Niyah Whitten paced Bridgeport offensively with 15 points, knocking down four of the team's five three-pointers in the contest.
Zahkiyyah Frazier added 14 points and pulled down a team-high nine rebounds, as she continues to rank third in the CACC in rebounding this season at 9.4 boards per game.
Mireya Johnson also reached double figures with a season-high 13 points while contributing five rebounds and three assists.
Savannah Prescott orchestrated the offense with a team-best six assists. She also chipped in six points and four rebounds.
