Johnson of Women's Basketball Named CACC Defensive Player of the Week
Tallied career-high seven steals in UB's win at Goldey-Beacom on Saturday.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – As the Purple Knights gear up for tomorrow night's CACC Quarterfinals, sophomore Mireya Johnson of the University of Bridgeport's women's basketball team earned Defensive Player of the Week honors from the conference on Monday.
Johnson did a little bit of everything for the Purple Knights during their final two games of the regular season. In Saturday's win at Goldey-Beacom, she registered a career-high seven steals, three of which came in UB's decisive 21-5 third quarter.
Earlier in the week against Felician, Johnson added another steal, a block and six rebounds, further showcasing her impact on the defensive end. She also contributed offensively with 10 total assists across the two contests.
Johnson and the rest of UB's women's basketball team will return to action on Tuesday night at top-seeded Holy Family in the CACC Quarterfinals (6 p.m.).
