Lissette La Fex And Lorraine Galow Named Weekly ECAC Division II Gymnastics Award Winners
Duo Helped Purple Knights Win Four-Team Yale Invitational And Dual Meet At Penn Last Weekend
Centerville, Mass.-For the third straight week, two members of the University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team have earned weekly ECAC Awards for their outstanding performances at the Purple Knights' quad meet victory at the Yale Bulldog Invitational last Saturday afternoon and a dual meet win over Penn on Sunday. Junior Lissette La Fex (Diamond Bar, Calif.), has been selected as the ECAC Division II Gymnast of the Week, and graduate student Lorraine Galow (Suwanee, Georgia) has earned the ECAC Division II Specialist Award for the week.
La Fex helped Bridgeport remain undefeated on the 2013 season as the Purple Knights won the Yale Bulldog Invitational last Saturday and a dual meet with Penn on Sunday. At Yale she finished second in the bars with a score of 9.800 and third in the beam with 9.725. On Sunday at Penn, she placed second in the all-around (38.975) by winning the bars (9.800) and finishing third in the beam (9.775).
UB graduate student Galow continues to work her way back from injury that cost her most of the last two seasons, as she helped the Purple Knights remain unbeaten on the year. At Yale, she placed second in the beam with a score of 9.775 and finished third at Penn with the same score on the beam.
This Friday, February 22, the Bridgeport gymnastics team is in action at the University of Maryland where they will face the host Terrapins along with University of Pittsburgh and George Washington University. The meet gets underway in Maryland at 7:00 p.m.
