Gymnastics Wins Quad Meet at SCSU
Purple Knights defeat Brown, Springfield and host Owls.
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Sparked by high marks on vault and floor, the University of Bridgeport's gymnastics team earned a quad-meet victory at Southern Connecticut State on Saturday afternoon. The Purple Knights posted the day's top score (193.225) amongst Brown, SCSU and Springfield.
Facing a 1.225-point deficit to Brown after two events, Bridgeport was able to pull off a tight comeback victory. The host Owls followed in third place while Springfield placed fourth.
UB's final mark of 193.225 served as a 1.375-point improvement from last week and their highest score at this point in the season since 2020.

INDIVIDUAL HIGHLIGHTS
Junior Lola Sepulveda led the way for the Purple Knights en route to a *first-place finish in the all-around (38.975)*. The Virginia native finished first in both vault (9.825) and floor (9.825) while also posting top-11 marks on bars (9.575) and beam (9.750).
Abigail Kenney finished right behind her classmate in the all-around, tallying top-five scores in three separate events. Kenney's highest mark came on vault at 9.750 (tied 5th).
Another junior, Tamyra Singletary also excelled on vault. The New Jersey native registered a career-best score of 9.775 to finish tied for third amongst all competitors. She finished tied for seventh (9.675) with Samantha Krenzel on floor as well.
In terms of improvements from UB's first meet at Cornell, it was the bars squad that stood out. The Purple Knights totaled 1.3 points higher on Saturday than last Sunday.
Following Kenney, who finished third on bars, Olivia Imbarlina (9.650), Nicole Pujals (9.650), Samantha Nokes (9.625) all tallied top-seven marks in the event.
*Sepulveda's score on beam counted as an exhibition.
