Abby Kenney Named GEC Gymnast of the Week
Coming off a third straight all-around win at Yale this past Sunday.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – For the second time in her career, junior Abby Kenney of the University of Bridgeport's gymnastics team has been selected as the Gymnastics East Conference (GEC) Gymnast of the Week.
Kenney, who has now won three consecutive all-arounds for UB, has been superb to begin 2025. Most recently, the New Jersey native registered a season-best mark of 39.050 to win the all-around in a tri-meet at Yale this past Sunday. Kenney's afternoon, which culminated in the second-highest score of her career, featured a top mark on beam (9.875), a sixth-place score on bars (9.700) and eighth-place finishes on both vault (9.700) and floor (9.775).
Kenney has now piled up 10 top-five performances across four meets this season. In fact, she has only placed outside of the top 10 in an event twice. She also holds team-high NQS' in bars, beam and floor so far this year.
Kenney and the rest of UB's gymnastics team will return to action this Sunday in a home quad meet at 1 p.m.
