Women's Lacrosse Put Fifth in CACC Preseason Coaches Poll
Purple Knights to begin 2025 campaign on March 1 at Saint Michael's.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – With their 2025 opener now less than a month away, the University of Bridgeport's women's lacrosse team was voted to finish fifth in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) on Friday according to the preseason coaches poll.
The Purple Knights, who finished fifth in the standings last year, will begin their new campaign on March 1 at Saint Michael's College. UB's triumph over Saint Mike's last season was one of 10 wins for the Purple Knights, which served as their highest total since 2015.
Turning the page now to 2025, Bridgeport's roster will be a familiar one with 17 returners and a total of 15 upperclassmen. The Purple Knights also welcome one rookie to the program and a pair of transfer students.
Head Coach Jess Ormrod is also back for the Purple and White, now in her third season at the helm. Ormrod's two years have resulted in 16 wins, a pair of CACC playoff berths and five All-Conference selections for the Purple Knights.
Following a three-game road stretch to begin the year, UB will make its home debut on March 16 against Felician.

At season's end, the top six teams in the standings will qualify for the CACC Championship tournament. The opening round and the semifinals will take place on April 26 and April 29, respectively, at campus sites.
Georgian Court will host the championship final on Sunday, May 4, on its Lakewood, N.J., campus.
For the first time, the CACC champion will automatically qualify for the NCAA Division II Women's Lacrosse Championship tournament.
