Women's Lacrosse Falls to Georgian Court in Home Finale, 18-13
Purple Knights will wrap up their regular season at Caldwell on Wednesday (April 23).
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Playing at home for the final time this season, the University of Bridgeport's women's lacrosse team (6-9, 3-5 CACC) was defeated by Georgian Court on Friday by a score of 18-13.
A pair of four-goal efforts from Tereza Kreuzova and Tara Dimaio guided the Purple Knights' offense versus the Lions. Dimaio also added six draw controls and a team-high three caused turnovers.
Dimaio, who dished out a pair of assists as well, is currently tied for first in the CACC in total caused turnovers this season (35). She is also UB's leader in ground balls with 42 and in goals with 43.
Kreuzova, meanwhile, registered at least three tallies in a game for the eighth time this season. She ranks third on UB in both goals (39) and points (42).
Elizabeth Pitts matched Kreuzova's four points in the contest courtesy of three goals (t-season high) and one assist. She continues to be Bridgeport's leader in helpers this season with 24.
Max McDermott and Emily Stuart also found the back of the net for the Purple Knights on Friday. McDermott has now reached the 40-goal mark for the first time in her career.
Samantha Targonski served as UB's leader in draw controls with seven while goalkeeper Jackie Mellia tallied a team-high three ground balls. Mellia finished with nine stops in net.
With the game tied 7-7 at halftime, Georgian Court scored the first three goals of the second half and the final three goals of the third quarter to build a 13-9 edge after 45 minutes.
The Lions extended their lead to 15-10 early in the fourth quarter before UB cut it to 15-13 with 6:16 remaining. GCU went on to end the game with a 3-0 spurt over the final 4:42 of regulation.
