Women's Lacrosse Wins at Caldwell to Clinch CACC Playoff Berth
Purple Knights earn the No. 6 seed in the upcoming conference tournament.
CALDWELL, N.J. – Needing a win to earn a berth into the CACC playoffs, the University of Bridgeport's women's lacrosse team tallied a 15-6 triumph at Caldwell on Wednesday afternoon. The Purple Knights wrap up the regular season with an overall record of 7-9 and a 4-5 mark in the CACC.
UB's decisive win was sparked by a 6-0 run to close the first half and a 5-1 stretch in the third quarter. The Purple Knights turned a 3-1 deficit in the opening minutes of the contest into a 13-4 lead after three quarters.
Individually, UB was led by a trio of hat tricks and five different multi-goal scorers.
Max McDermott, Tara Dimaio and Samantha Targonski all notched three tallies while Tereza Kreuzova and Emily Stuart each found the back of the net twice.
McDermott also dished out a team-high three assists to finish with a game-high six points. Targonski, meanwhile, ranked second on the squad with five points while leading the Purple Knights with six draw controls.
Dimaio's stat line was also strong for the away squad as she supplemented her offense with five ground balls, four draw controls and a pair of caused turnovers.
On the defensive side of the ball, Kaley Maxwell put together season highs in a pair of statistical categories. The sophomore finished with a team-high five caused turnovers to go along with five ground balls.
As a team, the Purple Knights earned advantages of 24-18 in ground balls and 28-16 in shots on goal.

The sixth-seeded Purple Knights will travel to third-seeded Wilmington for the CACC's First Round on Saturday.
