PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Fueled by a dominant start that featured a first-quarter shutout, the University of Bridgeport's women's lacrosse team powered past Chestnut Hill, 13-7, on Saturday afternoon. The decisive victory improves the Purple Knights to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in CACC play.
UB wasted no time taking control, opening the contest on a 4-0 run and never looking back. The Purple Knights continued to pour it on in the second quarter, outscoring the Griffins 4-2 to take a commanding 8-2 lead into halftime.
Tara Dimaio led the way with a team-high four goals, while also surpassing the 200-point milestone for her career in the victory. She now has 201 points in 51 career games played.
Cassidy Dalton turned in a great performance of her own with four points on three goals and an assist, including a pair of fourth-quarter tallies to help seal the win.
Payton Noack added a hat trick for the Purple Knights, while Emily Stuart chipped in two goals and controlled the tempo with a team-best seven draw controls.
UB's final offensive leader was Evelyn Edwards who dished out a team-best two assists.
As a team, UB outshot Chestnut Hill 26-20 and held a 13-9 edge in draw controls, while goalkeeper Amber Militrano registered eight saves in net.
