Women's Soccer Moves Up To Number Seven In The Nation
Purple Knights Also Top NSCAA East Regional Rankings
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's soccer teams has moved into the national Top-10 in the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Poll released by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) on Tuesday afternoon. The Purple Knights are now ranked seventh in the country after checking in at number 17 in last week's first poll of the 2011 season. Bridgeport has also moved up to the top spot in the NSCAA East Region Poll after being ranked number two last week. The number seven ranking is the highest that UB women's soccer program has ever reached in the NSCAA national poll.
After opening the season with wins over regionally-ranked American International and UMass Lowell on Labor Day Weekend, the Purple Knights, who are 3-0-0 on the year, topped Georgian Court, 6-0, in their only action last week.
This week, head coach Magnus Nilerud's team hosts Southern New Hampshire on Wednesday evening at 6:00 p.m. and then travels to Mercy College to open East Coast Conference play on Saturday afternoon.
