Women's Soccer Moves Up Two Spots To Number Five In The Nation
Purple Knights Hold On To Top Spot In East Region
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's soccer teams has moved up two spots to number five in the nation in this week's national NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Poll released by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) on Tuesday afternoon. The Purple Knights, who are currently 5-0-0 on the season, hold on to the number one spot in the East Regional rankings for the second consecutive week.
In the NSCAA national Top-25, the UB women have risen from number 17 in week one, to number seven last week, to the number five slot this week, which is the highest ever ranking in a national poll for the Bridgeport women's soccer program.
This week, head coach Magnus Nilerud's team faces one of the most challenging stretches of the 2011 season as they travel to Atlantic Regionally-ranked Bloomsburg (Pa.) University on Tuesday night and host 2010 East Coast Conference Champion, C.W. Post, on Saturday night.
