Purple Knights Unveil 2012 Women's Soccer Schedule
Bridgeport Opens 2012 Season At UMass Lowell On August 31
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's soccer team, under the direction of fourteenth-year head coach Magnus Nilerud, will open their 2012 season on Friday evening, August 31 when they travel to UMass Lowell for a 7:00 p.m. match that is part of the River Hawks' season-opening classic.
Bridgeport will play eight home matches and nine contests on the road during the 2012 campaign.
The match at UMass Lowell is the first of a season-opening six-game road trip that will end with the team's 2012 East Coast Conference opener at NYIT on Saturday, September 15.
The UB's home ECC opener will be against Queens (N.Y.) College on Wednesday, September 19 at 6:00 p.m., and that contest will open a four-game homestand.
The Purple Knights went 16-0-2 overall and a perfect 7-0- in East Coast Conference action in 2011. UB made its fifth consecutive trip to the NCAA Division II National Championship Tournament last season, and Bridgeport was ranked number in the nation in NCAA Division II Women's Soccer for sixth straight weeks during 2011.
