Big Second Half Lifts Bridgeport Women's Soccer To 3-0 Season-Opening Win Over AIC

Bridgeport, Conn-The University of Bridgeport women's soccer team used a huge second half to post a 3-0 home win over the visiting American International College Yellow Jackets in season opener for both team in the final match of the opening day of the 2018 University of Bridgeport Women's Soccer Classic at UB's Knights Field.

After a scoreless first half, the Purple Knights got on the board just 23 seconds into the second half when junior Maegen Doyle (Harwich, England) found the back of the net off a flick from sophomore Amanda Ebbesson (Solna, Sweden).

Newcomer, junior Nara DaCosta (Pancas, Brazil) would be a menace to AIC for the rest of the final stanza coring a pair of goals in the 56th and 67th minutes.

Bridgeport senior goalkeeper Jennifer Wendelius (Lidingo, Sweden) played a fine game in net for the Purple Knights making five saves to notch the clean sheet, shutout number 22 of her fine career in Purple and White.

Up next, the UB women's soccer team will close out play in the 2018 University of Bridgeport Women's Soccer Classic on Sunday afternoon when they host Southern Connecticut State at 3:00 p.m.
