Women's Soccer Standouts Samantha St. Pierre And Clara Karlsson Garner Weekly CACC Accolades
Duo Helped The Purple Knights Go 2-0-0 Last Week To Up Their Unbeaten Streak To 11 Matches
New Haven, Conn.-A pair of University of Bridgeport women's soccer standouts, junior Samantha St. Pierre (Granby, Conn.) and sophomore Clara Karlsson (Örnsköldsvik, Sweden), have earned Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference weekly awards for their outstanding play in matches that took place from October 10 through 16, 2022. St. Pierre has been selected as the CACC's Player of the Week, and Karlsson picked up conference Goalkeeper of the Week accolades for the second time this season. Both players helped Bridgeport go a perfect 2-0-0 on the week with road win over Post University and Georgian Court University to run the team's unbeaten streak to 11 matches (8 wins and 3 ties).
In the two matches last week, Samantha netted three goals and had one assist to total seven points in the two UB victories. She opened the week with a goal and an assist in the team's 3-0 triumph at Post on Wednesday and then wrapped up the week with two goals, including the game-winner, at Georgian Court in her team's 3-2 win. So far this season, St. Pierre has scored five goals and added three assists for a total of 13 points.
Karlsson went a perfect 2-0-0 between the pipes for the Purple Knights to keep her season record unblemished at 9-0-3. She record her fifth clean sheet of the season at Post on Wednesday and followed that up with a stellar performance at Georgian Court which including stopping her third penalty kick of the season and then the ensuing rebound to keep her team in front late in the contest.
Sophomore Henry Greiner (Munich, Germany) from the men's soccer team, who scored two goals last week, earned a spot on this week's CACC Honor Roll.
Both the UB women's and men's soccer teams will be in action at home on Tuesday when the Purple Knights host Felician University in a doubleheader that begins with the women's match at 3:00 p.m. followed by the men at 6:00 p.m.
