ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – Playing their first conference game of the season, the University of Bridgeport's women's soccer team dropped a 3-2 contest at Dominican on Tuesday. The loss puts the Purple Knights' record at 0-2-2 this season (0-1, CACC).
It was a pair of newcomers that led Bridgeport in their CACC opener. Chloe Oudin, a junior transfer, was the first to make an impact with a goal in the 38th minute.
Oudin rocketed a shot from about 20 yards out that squeaked over the Dominican goalkeeper.
UB, now holding a 1-0 lead, received another spark from freshman Luiza Macedo. The native of Brazil notched her first collegiate goal to add to the Bridgeport lead in the 67th minute.
Macedo's tally was assisted by senior captain Angelina LoFranco. She found Macedo with a perfect through ball that was one-touched into the back of the net.
LoFranco has led the Purple Knights in assists each of the last two seasons, and currently owns 17 assists in her career.
Dominican roared back from a 2-0 deficit with a trio of second-half goals, beginning in the 70th minute. A PK put the Chargers on the board while Kaitlyn Zeeb scored the game winner in the 88th minute.
Defensively, sophomore goalkeeper Angelina Griva finished with five saves across the full 90. Griva entered the game with just one goal allowed this season.
The Purple Knights ended the contest with a 29-12 shots advantage and forced Chargers' goalkeeper Nelly Arvidsson to make an impressive nine stops. UB also hit a pair of cross bars.
