NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The University of Bridgeport's women's soccer team opened its 2025 season on Friday with a hard-fought 0–0 draw on the road against Southern Connecticut State.
Junior goalkeeper Angelina Griva was outstanding between the posts for UB, registering five saves to earn the shutout. Offensively, the Purple Knights generated their best chances in the first half, with Lily Rodriguez testing the Owls' keeper twice and Luiza Macedo forcing another save.
Despite being outshot 8–3 and yielding four corners, Bridgeport's defensive organization held firm through 90 minutes. UB and SCSU also played to a 0-0 draw last season.
