BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Continuing a stretch of three consecutive nationally ranked opponents, the University of Bridgeport's women's soccer team earned a dramatic 1-1 draw against No. 24 Franklin Pierce on Tuesday at Knights Field. The non-conference tie puts the Purple Knights' record at 2-3-3 this season (2-2, CACC).
Sophomore Lily Rodriguez served as the hero for Bridgeport as she headed in the game-tying goal with just 26 seconds remaining in regulation.
Senior Chloe Oudin notched the assist with her corner kick being perfectly delivered to Rodriguez in the middle of the box. Oudin now leads UB with six points this season off two goals and two helpers.
On the other side of the ball, sophomore Sky Hernandez was terrific in net. The Long Island native finished with a much-needed 10 stops in her third career start for UB.
Bridgeport's defense allowed just one goal to a Franklin Pierce team that entered the game with 26 goals across seven contests (3.7 per game). UB's backline held tough despite being outshot 24-8 by the Ravens.
What an ending at Knights Field!
