Women's Swimming and Diving Splits at Wesleyan Tri-Meet
Purple Knights victorious over Wheaton College (109-103); Dropped matchup to host Cardinals (155-77).
MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Competing for the first time since mid-December, the University of Bridgeport's women's swimming and diving team posted a tri-meet split at Wesleyan on Saturday. UB was victorious over Wheaton College (109-103) while dropping a matchup to the host Cardinals (155-77).
The Purple Knights' strong afternoon was highlighted by eight top-three finishes and four event victories.
UB's 400-medley relay of Hazel Clark, Ceyda Genç, Cristal Margarita Gómez Rodriguez and Luca Olsen opened the meet with a runner-up finish, touching in at 4:05.47.
Olsen followed with a third-place performance in the 200-free, posting a time of 2:03.36.
Genç delivered two of Bridgeport's four wins by capturing the 50-free in 25.25 and the 100-free with a time of 55.69.
Freshman Anna Forlani also supplied a pair of triumphs in the 200-IM (2:15.36) and the 200-fly (2:14.48) in her UB debut. Both of those marks rank inside the top-10 of the NE10 this season.
In the 200-breast, Gómez Rodriguez and Pierina Ferraresi combined for a pair of podium finishes, placing second (2:32.48) and third (2:36.08), respectively.
