Anna-Mae Nellis Named CACC's Field Athlete and Rookie of the Week
Served as the highest non-DI finisher at the UMass multis.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Following a busy week of superb performances, Anna-Mae Nellis of the University of Bridgeport's track and field team was selected as the CACC's Field Athlete and Field Rookie of the Week on Tuesday.
Nellis was in action twice for the Purple Knights this past week, competing in both the UMass Multis and SCSU's Wilton Wright Invitational.
The graduate student began things with a terrific effort in the heptathlon at UMass. She posted the best finish amongst all non-DI competitors with a score of 3,669 points.
Nellis finished with the furthest marks in both throwing events, including a new PR of 11.66m in the shot put while recording a top mark of 36.28m in the javelin.
Nellis followed up the heptathlon with another standout effort at SCSU's Wilton Wright Invitational on Saturday. The Poughkeepsie, N.Y. native finished second in the javelin with a 35.82m and sixth in the shot put at 10.97m.
Nellis and the rest of UB's track and field squad will return to action on Friday at ECSU's Bonnie Edmonson Classic.
