UB Track and Field Caps Semester at Art Kadish Elm City Challenge
Purple Knights put together 14 individual top-20 performances.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Competing for the final time prior to semester break, the University of Bridgeport's men's and women's track and field teams took part in SCSU's two-day Art Kadish Elm City Challenge this past weekend.
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
The Purple Knights turned in several strong top-20 performances at the meet, highlighted by a pair of podium finishes on the track.
Sophomore Edoardo Vandelli led the way with a first-place finish in the 600-meters, crossing the line in 1:24.10.
Senior Toby Middleton added a third-place result in the mile, posting a time of 4:30.73.
Freshman Sunil Peters competed in the 55-meters and placed 14th overall with a time of 6.65. Peters also teamed up with Austin Wagoner, Vandelli and Damian Coles to earn a second-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay, clocking a 3:36.62.
Freshman Alex Sanchez cracked the top 10 in the 600-meters, finishing 10th in 1:31.18.
In the field events, freshman Darreyle Simpson recorded a seventh-place finish in the high jump at 1.73m and placed 15th in the 55-meter hurdles (10.03).
Junior Nick Migliarese rounded out Bridgeport's top-20 efforts with a 20th-place throw of 12.32m in the weight throw.
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
The Purple Knight women also posted multiple top-20 finishes across both track and field events at the meet.
On the track, graduate student Kara Sampath placed 11th in the 200 meters with a time of 28.25, while sophomore Abety Kivagheni followed closely in 15th at 28.64.
Bridgeport turned in a strong showing in the mile, led by sophomore Stephanie Lickteig's runner-up finish in 5:52.18. Graduate student Marcela Bañuelos added another top-five result by finishing fourth in the same event with a time of 6:06.48.
The 4x400m relay team of Sampath, Monsio Davies, Kivagheni and Suweba Jawula combined for a fifth-place finish, clocking a 4:40.88.
In field events, Davies recorded a pair of top-20 finishes, placing 11th in the long jump at 4.61m and 19th in the shot put at 8.26m.
Kivagheni also placed 15th in the long jump with a leap of 4.47m.
Graduate student Fiona Richards capped Friday's results with a fifth-place performance in the weight throw, posting a mark of 14.61m.

The Purple Knights will compete at the Ramapo College Indoor Opener on Jan. 16.
