Track and Field's Fortune Named CSC Academic All-District

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - Capping another outstanding year of academic and athletic success, senior Julia Fortune of the University of Bridgeport's cross country/track and field teams garnered 2026 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District recognition on Tuesday.

Fortune enjoyed an outstanding 2025-26 campaign both athletically and academically for the Purple Knights. A Biology major with a stellar 3.93 GPA, Fortune earned a place on the CACC All-Academic Team in January after a stellar cross country season.

Additionally, Fortune earned All-Conference honors during the cross country season after finishing 13th at the CACC championships, helping the Purple Knights secure a fourth-place team finish. Earlier in the fall, she was named CACC Runner of the Week after capturing the individual title at Mount Saint Mary College's Fall Pumpkin Run.

Fortune carried that success into the track & field season, where she etched her name into the program record book by setting new school records in both the 3000m and the 1500m.
