Volleyball's Krstonosic And Rich Earn Weekly East Coast Conference Awards
Junior Katarina Krstonosic Named ECC Player Of The Week For The Fourth Time This Season And Freshman Ellie Rich Earns ECC Setter Of The Week Accolades For The Second Time In 2015
Central Islip, N.Y.-After helping their team post a perfect 3-0 last week (October 12 through 18, 2015), two members of the University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team have been recognized by the East Coast Conference for their outstanding play.
For the fourth time this season, UB junior Katarina Krstonosic (Kikinda, Serbia) has been selected as the East Coast Conference Women's Volleyball Player of the Week, and freshman Ellie Rich (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) has earned ECC Setter of the Week accolades for the second time so far in 2015.
The duo also was recognized by the East Coast Conference during the same week on October 5th.
Krstonosic helped UB go 3-0 on the week as the Purple Knights swept Dowling, Roberts Wesleyan and Daemen. She averaged 3.56 kills per set with a .354 attack percentage and 3.0 digs per set. In the three matches, she recorded double-doubles against Dowling with 13 kills and 11 digs and Daemen with 11 kills and 12 digs. She also added five service aces and two blocks on the week. Katarina leads the Bridgeport offense so far in 2015 averaging 3.77 kills per set.
Rich continued her stellar play in her first season at UB averaging 11.8 assists per set in the three outings. She also chipped in nine kills, 18 digs, five blocks and two service aces on the week. For the season, Ellie is averaging just under 10 assists per set at 9.90.
The UB women's volleyball team will be in action this week hosting Molloy College on Tuesday evening and traveling to NYIT on Thursday night.
