Bridgeport Volleyball Duo Earn Weekly ECC Player Of The Week Awards
Makayla Maroney And Carly Killorin Honored For Their Outstanding Play In Three Matches Last Week
West Babylon, N.Y.-Two members of the University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team, senior, middle blocker Makayla Maroney (Parker, Colo.) and sophomore, setter Carly Killorin (Centennial, Col.) has been selected as East Coast Conference Players of the Week for their outstanding play in matches that took place from September 23 through 29, 2019. Maroney earned ECC Defensive Player of the Week honors, and Killorin was named conference Setter of the Week for the second time this season.
Makayla was dominant at the net for the Purple Knights averaging 1.20 blocks per set in three matches last week, as she had five solo blocks and seven block assists in 10 sets. At Saint Anselm on Wednesday, she had seven blocks (three solos), and followed that with three at Mercy and a pair at Queens. She also added 10 kills, hitting .359 on the week, and chipped in one dig.
Carly averaged 9,60 assists per set last week plus 2.9 digs. Also on the week, she had nine kills, six service aces and two blocks. On the season, she is averaging 10.3 assists per set.
The Bridgeport women's volleyball team enters this week's play with a 13-2 overall record and a 2-0 conference mark.
