Amanda Keller, Paola Hernandez And Jaden Drollinger Earn Weekly ECC Volleyball Awards
Trio Helped The Purple Knights Go 2-0 Last Week To Raise Team's Winning Streak To A Season-Best Four Matches
West Babylon, N.Y.-Three members University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team have been recognized by the East Coast Conference with weekly honors for their outstanding play in matches that took place from October 18 through 24, 2021.
Senior Amanda Keller (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) has been selected as the ECC Player of the Week, and for the second straight week, freshmen Paola Hernandez (Bayamon, P.R.) and Jaden Drollinger (Queens Creek, Az.) have earned conference recognition, as Hernandez picked up her fourth ECC Rookie of the Week nod of the season after being named Player of the Week last week; plus Drollinger was named ECC Setter of the Week for the second time in 2021, after being picked Rookie of the Week last week.
Keller helped the Purple Knights go 2-0 on the week averaging 2.7 kills per set with a blistering .452 hitting percentage, plus she added nine total blocks to average 1.0 blocks per set. On the week, Amanda had 24 kills in 42 attacks with only five errors in nine sets played, slamming 11 kills at Pace and 13 versus Roberts Wesleyan. She also had three digs, three service aces, and one assist on the week. On the season, Keller leads the team with a .352 hitting percentage, plus she tops UB in blocks with 52 to average 0.7 per set.
Hernandez had a double-double in each UB win on the week, as the Purple Knights extended their season-best winning streak to four with victories over Pace and Roberts Wesleyan. On the week, she averaged 3.4 kills and 2.8 digs per set. In a win at Pace, Paola had 19 kills and 14 digs to lead the Purple Knights, and she followed that up with a 12 kills/11 digs performance against RWC. She also added two service aces, two assists, and three block assists on the week. So far this year, Hernandez leads Bridgeport averaging 3.4 kills per set.
Drollinger averaged 10.9 assists and 2.2 digs per set last week. In Wednesday's win at Pace, Jaden had a double-double with 48 helpers and 11 digs, and she finished the week with 49 assists and nine digs in a win over Roberts Wesleyan. On the week, Drollinger also chipped in four kills, five service aces on five block assists. For the season, she is averaging 10.2 assists per set and leads the team with 38 service aces.
This week, the University of Bridgeport volleyball team will be in action at Queens (N.Y.) on Tuesday night and host Molloy College on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in Hubbell Gym in a pair of ECC matches.
