Volleyball's Hernandez and Drollinger Earn CACC Weekly Awards

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Following a 3-1 stretch last week, the University of Bridgeport's volleyball team had a pair of student-athletes honored by the CACC on Monday. Senior Paola Hernandez was named as the conference's Player of the Week while classmate Jaden Drollinger was tabbed the CACC Setter of the Week.
Hernandez was sensational in leading UB to a trio of wins. The native of Puerto Rico piled up a team-high 71 kills across the 17 sets, hitting .211 in the process. She finished in double figures in each of the matches, including a career-high 25 kills with a .360 hitting percentage in a five-set win over Franklin Pierce. Hernandez also finished the week with totals of 41 digs, six blocks and five aces. Hernandez currently ranks second in the CACC in kills per set (3.86) this season.
Drollinger, who has now earned 11 Setter of the Week awards in her career, was terrific for the Purple Knights as well last week. The Arizona native dished out an impressive 170 assists across 17 sets of work. Drollinger was especially impressive on Friday when she posted 50 and 57 assists in back-to-back matches. She also chipped in totals of 57 digs, 11 kills and eight aces last week as UB strung together wins over Pace, Franklin Pierce and Kutztown. Drollinger is currently leading the CACC in both total assists (236) and assists per set (9.44) this season.
Hernandez, Drollinger and the rest of the UB volleyball team will return to action tomorrow night at New Haven.
