Volleyball Rolls Past Caldwell, 3-0
Purple Knights move their record to 15-9 this season which includes an 8-3 mark in the CACC.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Coming off a pair of five-set wins last week, the University of Bridgeport's volleyball team enjoyed an easier time on Wednesday with a 3-0 sweep (25-16, 25-16, 25-10) of Caldwell. The dominant victory improves the Purple Knights' record to 15-9 this season which includes an 8-3 mark in the CACC.
Bridgeport posted one of its best performances of the year against the Cougars. The Purple Knights earned their seventh sweep of the season while not allowing more than 16 points in any single set.
UB's duo of Lucia Tomiello and Paola Hernandez combined for 19 of the team's 37 kills on Wednesday night.
Tomiello hit a team-high .500 en route to her 10 putaways while Hernandez finished with nine kills, six digs and four service aces. Hernandez now leads the CACC in kills per set (3.59) this season.
Jaden Drollinger and Ava Casales served as Bridgeport's main distributors. Casales dished out a career-high 22 assists while Drollinger recorded 13 helpers in the first set alone.
Drollinger, the reigning CACC Setter of the Week, continues to lead the conference in assists per set (9.98). She has 13 different matches this year with at least 40 assists.
Defensively, Ella Young picked up a team-high seven digs while 11 different players finished with at least one dig in the match.
