Gary Mullin is in his 12th year at the helm of the University of Bridgeport women's volleyball program in 2025-26. During his tenure on the UB bench, the Purple Knights have posted an impressive 197-109 record.

Most recently, Mullin's squads have won back-to-back CACC regular-season championships in 2023 and 2024. Bridgeport has engineered a 28-4 conference record during that time (46-18 overall). All in all, UB is 40-10 in CACC matches since joining the league prior to the 2022 campaign.

In 2023, Mullin led the Purple Knights to one of the best seasons in program history. UB volleyball went 26-8 (15-1, CACC) en route to winning both the CACC regular-season and tournament championships. The Purple Knights went on to face Adelphi in the NCAA East Regional.

In recognition of the 2023 excellence from UB, Mullin was named the CACC's Coach of the Year.

Prior to joining the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference in 2022-23, the Bridgeport women's volleyball program made 18 consecutive East Coast Conference Championship Tournament appearances and captured a total of five conference crowns. In the team's first CACC season in 2022, UB posted a 12-6 conference mark and advanced to the conference championship semifinals.

Mullin came to the University of Bridgeport from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut where he served as the Bantams’ assistant women’s volleyball coach for five seasons.

A 1974 graduate of Yale University with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Mullin played volleyball for the Bulldogs, receiving All-American honors, and he earned a spot on the United States Volleyball Team at the 1973 World University Games.  He has previously coached the men’s volleyball squad at his alma mater into the NCAA Division I Final Four.  Along with his intercollegiate coaching experience, Mullin has also coached at several Connecticut high schools.

He also holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of New Haven, and along with his solid coaching credentials, Mullin has been a successful member of the Southern Connecticut business community for many years including running a well-respected management consulting business, FTG Financial, for local companies since 2002.  Gary also currently serves as the Executive Director of the Milford Regional Chamber of Commerce.
