Bowman and Tomiello of UB Volleyball Selected to CSC's Academic All-District Team
Ella Bowman, Sophomore DS, 3.62 GPA | Lucia Tomiello, Senior MB, 4.0 GPA
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – In recognition of outstanding achievements in the classroom and on the volleyball court, University of Bridgeport standouts Ella Bowman and Lucia Tomiello were each named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team on Tuesday. Both Purple Knights appeared in all 30 matches for a UB team that won the CACC Championship for the second time in the last three seasons.
The 2025-26 Academic All-District volleyball teams, selected by the College Sports Communicators, honor the nation's top student-athletes for their excellence both in competition and in the classroom. Criteria for the awards can be found HERE.
UB Volleyball CSC Academic All-District Honorees:
Ella Bowman | Sophomore DS | GPA: 3.62 | Major: Health Sciences
- Appeared in all 30 matches for the CACC Champions, including nine starts
- Posted six matches with double-digit digs
- Ranked fourth on UB in both total digs and service aces
- Made both CACC Academic Honor Rolls last year
Lucia Tomiello | Senior MB | GPA: 4.0 | Major: Psychology
- 2025 CACC All-Conference Second Team
- 2025 and 2023 CACC All-Tournament Team
- Winner of CACC's Top XVI Award (highest cumulative GPA at the Finals Site)
- Set a CACC Tournament record in single-match hitting percentage (.867)
- Back-to-back CACC All-Conference First Team selections in 2023-24
- Two-time All-East Region honoree
- Finished career with more than 1,000 kills, 500 digs, 270 blocks
- Two-time CACC All-Academic Team selection
- Made all four CACC Academic Honor Rolls
